Granite Bay Golf Club

Sacramento, California

Granite Bay was completed in 1996 and is located in Roseville, east of Sacramento. The course was designed by Robert Trent Jones, Jr. and Kyle Phillips and is considered a "modern classic". It was designed in the tradition of earlier California clubs such as the San Francisco Country Club, Pasatiempo Golf Club and the Olympic Club with small greens and tight fairways. The clubhouse follows in this tradition and is nestled close to the tees and greens creating an intimate atmosphere with the golf course. The clubhouse and pro shop are situated in separate buildings reducing the scale and impact on the site. The style is traditional and recalls the architecture of Stanford White of McKim, Mead and White, a prominent East Coast firm that designed the clubhouse at Shinnecock Hills Golf Club and many prominent residences at the turn of the 20th Century.
